The Summer Scoop 2

Happy Friday Bulldog Country 😎  Believe it or not this week marked the midpoint of summer vacation.  The 2023-24 school year will start in less than 6 weeks.  Here is the ‘summer scoop’ on the latest GES news making waves this season.

Online Student Registration

Once again this year, we will be conducting student registration online.  No more stacks of paper or waiting in line.  Next Monday, July 10, an email will be pushed out to families with instructions for getting GES students registered.  This process should only take a few minutes to complete.  The student registration window will be open from July 10-July 31.

Open House

In partnership with the PTA, we are adding a little fun to Open House this year, and as a result, we have given it a new fun name, Bulldogpalooza.  Bulldogpalooza is an engaging and festive open house event organized by a school that proudly identifies with the Bulldog as its mascot.  Families are scheduled to attend on Monday, August 14, as follows:  6:00-6:20 A-D; 6:20-6:40 E-H; 6:40-7:00 I-P; 7:00-7:20 Q-Z.  Throughout the event, there will be games, snacks, drinks, and music in the cafeteria compliments of the PTA.

Construction Update

The new entrance to the parking lot has been open for a couple of weeks now.  While it is a change that may alter your route to/from the school, it is nice to have easier access to the businesses along Munster Street.

In regards to the construction of the 2 additional classrooms, the excavation associated with the construction project has not gone as planned. Uncovering the foundation of the original schoolhouse and the removal of that concrete has resulted in the project timeline being pushed back.  Our contractor is dedicated to pushing through the challenges they have faced with this part of the project and will do everything they can to finish the project as closely as possible to the original December 29 target completion date.

As the construction timeline continues to evolve, updates will be shared with all members of the school community.

In regards to phase 2, the gym project.  We are in the beginning stages of coordinating a capital campaign to raise money to fill the funding gap.  If you are interested in helping out with the campaign, please email me.

Summer Project

The Health Life Safety Project that entails making significant upgrades to our fire alarm system is scheduled to start on Monday, July 10.  The project includes:  Fire Alarm Panel Retrofit, Fire Alarm Device Upgrade, and IP Clock System and PA System install.  At some point during this project, our current system will be dismantled, and we will not be able to have children in the building.  We will notify families in advance of the building being shut down to the general public.  Of course, we will work around the parish picnic.

School Supply Kits

For those that ordered a school supply kit, we expect delivery the first week in August.  We will notify families when the kits are available for pickup.
