April 26, 2024, will mark the 20th year that runners from near and far have been raising money for the students of Germantown Elementary School. Rick Sherman and Marlene Fields started the Bulldog Dash with hopes of helping their local school, and it has become an amazing success. Sherman continued to head the committee for 10 more years before handing the baton to Jamie Dumstorff. Dumstorff also had a long run as head chairperson. She finished her leg in 2022. Then in 2023, Michelle Winkeler stepped up to the starting blocks. Following the return to in-person racing after the pandemic, Winkeler shifted the event to a new course, transforming it into a neon-glowing family night of walking/running along with post race snacks, drinks, burgers and hot dogs. Over the course of the past two decades, the Bulldog Dash Committee has accomplished amazing things for the students at Germantown Elementary. With the finish line nowhere in sight, we are committed to keeping the pace by continuing the Bulldog Dash for many years to come.
This year’s Bulldog Dash will be held on Friday, April 26, with the 5k run/walk at 6:00 p.m. followed by the 2K run/walk at 7:00 p.m. Both races start at Schoendienst Park located in Germantown, IL, just off Route 161. The streets will be marked with paw prints to guide the way. After the 5K and 2K fun runs, the festivities will groove on with performances by two talented local acts. Bring your neon clothes, bracelets, necklaces, or anything that glows, to help us light up the streets of Germantown. Participants can register up to and on race day; however, only pre-registered entrants are guaranteed an event t-shirt. Participants can register on-line by going to tinyurl.com/bulldogdash24. This luminous race is all about the kids. The Bulldog Dash is Germantown Elementary SD #60's largest fundraising event. Sponsors from Clinton County and beyond generously donate towards the enhancement of Germantown Elementary's technology. Thanks to the generosity of these donors, our children have access to up-to-date educational software and technology at school. The different levels of Sponsorship are Friend- under $175, Bronze - $175, Silver - $300, Gold - $500 and above, and one Diamond sponsor per year - $1,000. The 2024 Diamond Sponsor is Becker’s Shell.
