Game Day 011425
It is the mission of Germantown Elementary School District #60 to educate all children to the best of their abilities through the cooperation of school, home, and community. The District, in an active partnership with parents and community, promotes excellence in a caring environment in which all students learn and grow. Through this partnership we hope to empower all students to develop a strong self-esteem and to become responsible learners and decision-makers. Attainment of our mission is determined by student academic achievement, social development and positive attitude toward learning. The Honor Roll program at Germantown Elementary School District #60 recognizes the academic achievement of all fifth through eighth grade students. Students with a grade point average between 3.75-4.0 earn a place on High Honor Roll while students with a GPA of 3.5 are designated as Honor Roll recipients. It is our pleasure to recognize the 2nd Quarter Honor Roll recipients. This honor is a direct result of hard work and dedication.

Game Day 011325
In the month of November, we often find ourselves reading and making social media posts about all that we are grateful for. We may also share these things around the table with our family for Thanksgiving dinner. While it is great to show gratitude around Thanksgiving, what about the other 11 months of the year? Gratitude has many benefits. It can improve our physical and mental health and increase happiness in ourselves and our children. Here are some small things you can do and mindset shifts you can make to add gratitude to your daily “to dos.” Shine a spotlight on the small things that went well each day. Talk about these things with your kids. It will help them develop a mindset that allows them to see the bright side rather than dwell on the negatives. If they hear us complain about work, the lady that checked us at the grocery store, how their teachers taught or their coaches coached, they will also draw attention to everything that didn’t go just the way they wanted it to go. However, if we shift those comments (that likely weren’t meant for little ears anyways) to a highlight of the small things that were good, our kids will reflect......and we may even notice our own happiness increasing. Say and write the things we are grateful for. Don’t tell your friends how grateful you are for your husband shoveling the driveway. Tell your husband. Don’t tell your wife that you’re grateful your kids had a great attitude towards remote learning. Tell your kids. Say it out loud. Send it in a text. Write it on a sticky note. Find a way that works for you and do it. It takes just a few minutes each day to show gratitude. It is a practice. The more you do it, the better you will become. This is another one of those small changes that adds up to big results.

8th Grade Night
Despite sunshine for much of the day, the thick layer of snow and ice on many of the country roads remains a big concern as our buses drive many miles on those roads to transport students to and from school. Add to that a forecast for 2-4 more inches of snow late tonight into tomorrow, and we have a recipe for an E-Learning Day. The forecast for this weekend calls for sunshine and temperatures in the mid 30s to low 40s. Sounds like the perfect ingredients for a thaw and a return to school next week. Thank you for understanding that student safety is our top priority.

Sun
While the sun finally decided to make an appearance today, it wasn't enough to get the country roads cleared for safe travel. Tomorrow, we will be transitioning to E-Learning. Parents are asked to check their email for more information. Thanks for understanding that when these decisions are made, student safety is our top priority.

Good evening, Bulldog Country! In life, lots of things come in threes—like the Three Little Pigs, the Three Musketeers, and the Three Bears. Well, here we are with our third Snow Day in a row, and as they say in baseball, “Three strikes, you’re out!" Old Man Winter, take a break. Give us some sunshine to melt the snow and ice. Tomorrow has officially been declared Snow Day #3. Here's hoping the third time's the charm, and we can get back to school on Thursday.

Snow Day #3
With cold temperatures, several inches of wintry precipitation on the ground, and no sunshine to melt it, the roads, especially those in the country that our buses travel extensively, are still too dangerous to safely transport students. We will be extending our Winter Break by yet another day with Snow Day #2. Cheers to making the most of the snow with sledding, snowman making, and plenty of hot chocolate.
