This week we had a pep rally for the Varsity Boys Basketball team and cheerleaders, celebrated the 100th day of school and had a doggone good 101st day of school. During a week that was damp, cold, and dreary, GES still managed to create lots of laughter with our pep rally games, the elderly children walking the halls, and the dalmatians barking "Happy 101 Days!"

Our student enrollment numbers are trending upwards. With an increase in the number of students we serve comes a need to expand our teaching team. This particular need entails expanding our special education program for the 2024-25 school year. Instead of two teachers managing an entire K-8 special education caseload, we are adding a third teacher to the mix. Adding a third teacher to our special education program for the upcoming school year not only addresses a caseload that is increasing but also enhances our capacity to tailor instruction to individual student needs.
Our current junior high science teacher, Mrs. Garren, has expressed interest in transitioning to the role of junior high special education teacher. Because as a school district we believe strongly in supporting our staff and their professional goals as well as advancing from within, we fully endorse Mrs. Garren's transition to the junior high special education teacher role.
Due to Mrs. Garren's change in teaching assignment for the 2024-25 school year, we now have a junior high science vacancy. With that being said, please consider sharing the below job posting with anyone certified to teach junior high science that might be interested in joining our Bulldog family.
Calling all educators certified to teach middle school science in Illinois. We have an exciting opportunity for you. GES Is looking for a passionate educator to take our 5th through 8th grade science program to the next level for the 2024-25 school year. If you have leadership qualities and yearn for a job in a school district that will give you opportunities to develop those qualities, this is the job for you. The district anticipates an administrative vacancy in the near future and is open to developing a leader from within the school for this position if the right candidate comes along. Not interested in taking on a leadership role but have a passion for providing junior high students with an innovative, hands-on science curriculum, we want you to apply too. Whether looking for your first job in education or wanting a change, we welcome all candidates to apply. We honor all years of experience at GES.
Now is an exciting time to join our Bulldog family as we are growing. Last summer, we broke ground on Phase I of a construction project, the addition of 2 early childhood classrooms. Those classrooms are near completion. Phase II will follow at some point in the near future and includes the construction of a new gym. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get a front row seat for all the excitement to come. If you desire to work in an Exemplary district with a family atmosphere that embraces creativity and a team approach, this is the job for you.
Interested candidates are asked to send a cover letter, resume, and letters of recommendation to Robin Becker at rbecker@ges60.org or 401 Walnut Street, PO Box 400, Germantown, IL, 62245. Interviews will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Thank you, in advance, for helping to spread the word about this job opportunity.

We are excited to announce that in conjunction with our initiative to focus more on the social-emotional well-being of our students, this spring we are starting a Girls on the Run Program at GES for students in third, fourth, and fifth grades. The program will be led by Mrs. Kristine Beer and Mrs. Kelsey Peppenhorst.
Run may be in the name, but Girls on the Run is much more than stretches and lap goals. In this after-school program, participants of all abilities learn to embrace their inner strength, make meaningful connections and give back to their communities. Here, girls learn skills that shape them into tomorrow’s leaders, with 97% of participants reporting they learned things at Girls on the Run that are important to them.
Starting the week of March 4th and continuing through early May, the GES Girls on the Run team will meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:30. The program will conclude on May 11 with a celebratory 5K Run at Forest Park in St. Louis. The standard program fee is $100. Financial assistance, payment plans, and sibling discounts are available for anyone who needs it.
To register your child, go to www.gotrstl.org, click on the 'Register' button in the top right corner of the page and choose 3rd-5th Grade Program. This will take you to a new page where you will click the pink 'Register' button towards the middle of the page.

Germantown Elementary is looking to hire a forward thinking fourth grade teacher who is passionate about education and strives to make learning meaningful and fun for the students. We anticipate the incoming fourth grade class will have 30 students, thus we will have 2 sections of fourth grade for the 2024-25 school year. This position is for the second section of fourth grade.
