Eighth grade ELA read 332 books this year as a class! Each student met the 15 book independent reading challenge, and 16 met their personal goals as well! Way to go 8th graders. We are so proud of you!

At last night's Awards Banquet we also recognized our 8th grade golfers and their parents. With all practices and matches being away, it takes lots of dedication on everyone's part to make the season a success. We appreciate our athletes and their parents for their commitment and support throughout the season.

This was our inaugural year for Cross Country, and our 8th graders stepped up in a big way to get the program started on solid footing. At last night's Awards Banquet, we recognized these 8th graders and their parents for their role in establishing the inaugural Bulldog Cross Country program. Their unwavering support, dedication, and determination laid the foundation for future athletes to follow and paved the way for a successful journey ahead.

At last night's Athletic Awards Banquet, we saved the most important award for last, the Scholar Athlete Award. This award is presented to Bulldog athletes who earned a place on Honor Roll every quarter of the school year.
Being a scholar athlete is a testament to the power of balance, discipline, and dedication. It signifies the unwavering commitment to both academic and athletic pursuits, embodying the true essence of a well-rounded individual.
The importance of being a scholar athlete lies in the invaluable life skills it instills. By excelling academically, these athletes demonstrate a commitment to their studies, time management, and the ability to prioritize their responsibilities. They show that success in the classroom requires effort, focus, and hard work.
Simultaneously, the athletic aspect of being a scholar athlete emphasizes the significance of physical health, teamwork, and perseverance. These athletes learn the value of hard work, resilience, and pushing their limits. They understand the importance of collaboration, communication, and supporting their teammates.
Being a scholar athlete means going beyond mere participation. It means striving for excellence, constantly seeking improvement in all aspects of life. It requires sacrificing personal time, overcoming obstacles, and maintaining a strong work ethic.
Being a scholar athlete serves as an inspiration to others. It showcases that achieving greatness is not limited to one sphere of life. It demonstrates that with determination and a balanced approach, one can excel in both academic and athletic endeavors.
The impact of being a scholar athlete extends beyond the individual. It fosters a culture of success, setting a high standard for future generations to aspire to. Scholar athletes become role models, inspiring their peers and leaving a lasting legacy within their school community.
Ultimately, the importance of being a scholar athlete lies in the lifelong lessons it imparts. It prepares individuals to face challenges head-on, instilling in them the drive to continuously learn, grow, and achieve their full potential. It cultivates a well-rounded character, equipping them with the skills necessary for success in all areas of life.
While we are proud of our athlete's accomplishments, our primary focus is their commitment to being a well-rounded student. The student comes first, and the athlete comes second.
We can't hide our Bulldog #PRIDE.

Happy Friday Bulldog Country. Check out the upcoming events scheduled at GES.

Huge congratulations to Abi for her outstanding performance in the State Golf Tournament yesterday. This was her second year in a row qualifying for the State Tournament. Last year, she carded a 108. This year, she finished with an 88. A 20 stroke improvement from one year to the next is quite remarkable. Placing 6th out of so many talented golfers is no small feat. Abi is proof that hard work and dedication pays off.

Bulldog Country stands proud of Abi today. She participated in the SIJHSAA State Golf Tournament at Rend Lake Golf Resort. On the front 9 she carded a sizzling 41 and wrapped up the back 9 with a 47. Finishing with a score of 88, Abi tied with three other golfers for 4th place overall out of 43 golfers. Due to a tie breaker, she ended the day in 6th place. What a stellar finish to her GES golfing career.
Congratulations to Abi and Coach Murphy on a job well done!

It's Match Day for Abi at the SIJHSAA State Golf Tournament. All of Bulldog Country wishes her the best of luck as she takes on the toughest competition in the state. Good luck, Abi. Show them what you've got.

Fourth graders who went above and beyond to complete their April reading logs fully met today for our first "book club" meeting. At GES we choose to foster reading in all areas of life even when it isn't for a grade😃

Our 2nd through 4th grade students are all pumped up about STEAM Day this Friday. The teachers have some exciting activities planned that incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Let's get ready for some STEAM-tastic fun!

Join us for our annual Field Day event on Tuesday, May 23, and help us make it a fun and memorable day for our students. The PTA is looking for volunteers to help with stations, assist with setup and cleanup, and keep everything running smoothly.
If you're interested in volunteering, contact Danielle Ribbing, (314)691-0026 or dguilliams24@gmail.com.
