Our Cross Country Bulldogs get their season started after school today with the Albers/Damiansville Invitational. Go Bulldogs!

Angel for Autism is a non-profit organization that has dedicated itself to making a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by autism. The organization strives to provide support, resources, and a sense of community to those navigating the complexities of autism spectrum disorder. In fact, Angel for Autism has served as a vital resource for our school community this past year by providing us with 'sensory tools' or 'calming tools' the students use to help regulate their emotions . We are grateful for the support of Angel for Autism and seek to help them in return by sharing this fundraising event with others.

Calling all former, current, and future Bulldogs or anyone that is a Bulldog supporter. We are in the beginning stages of putting together a Capital Campaign to 'Raise the Roof' on a new gymnasium. If you are interested in being part of the committee that works to raise money to close the funding gap for the gym, please email raisetheroof@ges60.org. This is an opportunity to leave an indelible mark on the community school's legacy, fostering an environment where building strong minds goes hand in hand with building strong bodies. Let's unite to make this vision a reality.

The ASA Cross Country Invitational scheduled for Friday, August 25, at Mater Dei High School has been cancelled due to the forecast for excessive heat. Families will be notified if the meet is able to be rescheduled.

A parent/athlete fall sports meeting will be held in the cafeteria at 6:30 tonight . All parents of students planning to participate in cross country, girls basketball, boys basketball, and cheerleading during the 2023-24 school year are encouraged to attend the meeting with their athlete(s).

Today, yet another group of our PreK friends celebrated their first day of school with their very own HOUSE Sorting activity. The students were excited to open their surprise and find out which House they would be in for the year.

Mark your calendar. Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day will be held at GES on Friday, October 6. We are still working out the details of this special occasion and will share them when they are finalized.

Germantown Elementary is looking for a Cheer Coach for the 2023-24 school year. Practices start in late August/early September, so a coach is needed soon if we want to be able to offer cheer this year. The regular game schedule starts in October and runs through the middle of January. The post-season begins in late January. Most games are held on weekdays and start at 6:00. This is a stipend position. If interested in the position, contact Athletic Director, Blain Loepker, at ad@ges60.org.

It's time to unleash the magic. Bring it on Bulldog Country. We are ready for you.

With a fierce heart and unstoppable spirit, our GES staff is ready and eager to get the 2023-24 school year started tomorrow.

It was confirmed earlier today that a crane will be on site tomorrow morning starting at 7:00 to begin the process of installing the structural steel for the classroom additions. This means Walnut Street by the school will be blocked off to traffic for a period of time. We know the timing isn't the best with it being the first day of school, but that is unfortunately how things played out.
We ask that families planning to bring their children to school tomorrow avoid the stretch of Walnut Street by the school. The main entrance to the parking lot will be accessible via Munster street from both directions.
The plan is for Walnut Street to be open by dismissal time at 3:05 for bus traffic. We kindly ask that all other traffic use a different route to the school. With so much activity scheduled in the construction zone tomorrow, we would like to limit the traffic on that stretch of the road as much as possible.
While this situation may be less than ideal, it is important to remember that this is a sign of progress being made as we continue to watch our vision become a reality.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school this evening for Bulldogpalooza. Meet the teachers, drop off supplies, and stop in the cafeteria for a drink, snack, music, games, and prizes.

Everybody needs a little Carl and April in their life. They do it all at GES from cleaning buses to sprucing up the parking lot with paw prints and everything in between. We appreciate all the time and energy they put into preparing the building and grounds for the 2023-24 school year.

We are excited to unveil our theme word for the 2023-24 school year, FIERCE.

FOCUSED: We will sharpen our focus, set goals, and conquer challenges head-on. The 2023-24 school year will be all about aiming high and staying on target 🎯 .

EAGER: We will approach each day with enthusiasm and a hunger for knowledge. Our curiosity will lead us to exciting discoveries and endless possibilities.
RESPONSIBLE: As Bulldogs, we will take pride in being responsible members of our school community. We will practice leading by example and taking ownership of our actions.
COMPASSIONATE: A kind heart can make a big difference. We will spread compassion, support one another, and make our school a place where everyone feels valued and cared for.

Thank you to Susan Knapp for spotlighting the great work of the Germantown Kernel Nut Club. The KNC is nuts about kids. We are grateful for the many ways they make a difference in our community.

PTA members, Jackie Rakers, Alyssa Loepker, Stephanie Hemker, Anne Huelsmann, Allison Schroeder, and Danielle Ribbing, present Superintendent Becker with a check for $9675 from proceeds raised through the annual PTA Raffle. The money will be allocated to maintaining and upgrading technology throughout the district. We appreciate our PTA Board for their time and efforts during the 2022--23 school year as well as the support of the school community with selling and buying raffle tickets.
