For September, Mrs. Conner's Reader of the Month is Kelsey S. and the Writer of the Month is Addi W. Kelsey has read seven books since school started, and Addi works very hard to better her writing each day. Both students show great leadership in ELA and are examples for others to follow. If you see Kelsey and Addi out and about in the days to come, please congratulate them on a job well done.

The Student of the Month Program serves to recognize one student in grades PreK-3 and one student in grades 4-8 each month. Members of the faculty and staff nominate students based on the qualities associated with the #PRIDE theme: Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Empathy. We are pleased to announce that Adriana B-S. and Sawyer E. were chosen as the September Students of the Month. This morning, Kernel Nut Club representative, Nick Schomaker, presented Adriana and Sawyer with a certificate and a $25 check for their own personal use. The Kernel Nut Club also made a $25 donation to the charity of the recipients' choice. A donation was made to Variety the Children's Charity, on Adriana's behalf, and the Clinton County Humane Society, on Sawyer's behalf. If you see Adriana or Sawyer out and about in the days to come, please let them know that Bulldog Country stands proud of them.

We are gearing up for next week's BIG race as we kickoff our Racing for Ryleigh fundraiser. Who is Ryleigh? Ryleigh is one of our Transitional Kindergarten students. She was recently diagnosed with a very rare autoimmune disorder that resulted in an extended hospital stay, countless doctor appointments, and an extensive treatment plan. Through this fundraiser, our goal is to raise money for the family to help offset expenses. Starting Monday, October 3, the class horses will race out of the gates in an attempt to raise the most money and cross the finish line in first place. The students will add quarters and dollar bills to their class jug each day to advance their horse in the horse race. If you would like to contribute to the Racing for Ryleigh fundraiser, simply send quarters and dollar bills to school October 3-October 7. The class that raises the most money and 'wins' the horse race will receive a pizza party. The fundraiser will culminate on Feel Good Friday, October 7, when we host three heats of 'horse races' in the gym and the winner is crowned. Please consider joining us in our efforts to raise money for Ryleigh.
