What an incredible moment for Bulldog Country tonight.

At this evening’s boys basketball game, members of the Kernel Nut Club presented Superintendent Becker with a $50,000 check in support of the Raise the Roof Capital Campaign. This generous gift is a powerful reminder of what happens when a community comes together for its kids.

The Kernel Nut Club fundraises with one purpose in mind—supporting our community’s youth. Their commitment goes far beyond a single donation. When you support the Kernel Nut Club, you are investing in opportunities, experiences, and a brighter future for our children.

We are deeply grateful for their generosity, their dedication, and the countless ways they continue to show up for the kids of our community. Thank you, Kernel Nut Club, for believing in our students and for helping us raise the roof—literally and figuratively.

Week #14 FInal Push Update!

Last week, $2,550 was pledged and $1,800 was received, bringing our campaign total to $236,700. When combined with Rockfest proceeds, we’ve now raised $611,700 toward our $750,000 goal.

That puts us at 82% of the way there.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support this project. Every pledge, every donation, and every share is helping move us closer to the finish line. Let’s keep the momentum going.

Many children (and adults) struggle with negative self-talk-----thoughts like “I’m not good at this,” “I don’t have any friends,” and “I’ll probably fail anyways.” If they are hearing this negative inner voice often without the ability to pause and change it, these thoughts can affect their confidence, motivation, and emotional well-being.

The ability to identify negative self-talk and “flip it” into a more helpful thought, can be a game-changer. Positive self-talk helps children respond to challenges with kindness and resilience. Instead of “Why try?” They can lean further into “If I keep trying, I will get better.”

Positive self-talk doesn’t mean that we ignore challenges. It does not mean that we believe the world is full of unicorns and rainbows. Instead, it means we are able to replace negative thoughts (that ultimately do not help us at all) with more supportive, fair, and helpful thoughts.

Here’s how you can help at home.

Model positive self-talk. Our kids do what we do, not what we tell them to do. Try, “That workout was really hard. I know I can do better, but I’m glad I got it done.” “I really don’t want to clean the floors. I know when it's done I’ll be glad, so I’m just going to get it done.”

Help reframe negative thoughts. Teach them to “catch it” and “flip it” by helping them “catch” (identify) a negative thought an “flip” (reframe) it to a more helpful thought.

Encourage a go-to phrase. “I can do hard things.” Your junior high kids may roll their eyes. We’ve been preaching this at school since PreK. Even with an eye roll, the message is clear and meaningful. Practice it. Preach it.

Small daily reminders help children build strong inner voices they’ll carry for life.

An error in our student information system resulted in an inaccurate eighth grade Honor Roll list. The list is now corrected and includes Honor Roll recipients Kynslee, Maeve, Stacy, and Brynn. We apologize to our students and families for this situation and any confusion it may have caused.

Congratulations to all of our Honor Roll recipients on a job well done.
