We are excited to announce that in conjunction with our initiative to focus more on the social-emotional well-being of our students, this spring we are starting a Girls on the Run Program at GES for students in third, fourth, and fifth grades. The program will be led by Mrs. Kristine Beer and Mrs. Kelsey Peppenhorst. Run may be in the name, but Girls on the Run is much more than stretches and lap goals. In this after-school program, participants of all abilities learn to embrace their inner strength, make meaningful connections and give back to their communities. Here, girls learn skills that shape them into tomorrow’s leaders, with 97% of participants reporting they learned things at Girls on the Run that are important to them. Starting the week of March 4th and continuing through early May, the GES Girls on the Run team will meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:30. The program will conclude on May 11 with a celebratory 5K Run at Forest Park in St. Louis. The standard program fee is $100. Financial assistance, payment plans, and sibling discounts are available for anyone who needs it. To register your child, go to www.gotrstl.org, click on the 'Register' button in the top right corner of the page and choose 3rd-5th Grade Program. This will take you to a new page where you will click the pink 'Register' button towards the middle of the page. Feel free to contact Mrs. Beer at kbeer@ges60.org with questions.

SEL Family Night
Our student enrollment numbers are trending upwards. With an increase in the number of students we serve comes a need to expand our teaching team. Germantown Elementary is looking to hire a forward thinking fourth grade teacher who is passionate about education and strives to make learning meaningful and fun for the students. We anticipate the incoming fourth grade class will have 30 students, thus we will have 2 sections of fourth grade for the 2024-25 school year. This position is for the second section of fourth grade. Now is an exciting time to join our Bulldog family as we are growing. Last summer, we broke ground on Phase I of a construction project, the addition of 2 early childhood classrooms. Those classrooms are near completion. Phase II will follow at some point in the near future and includes the construction of a new gym. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get a front row seat for all the excitement to come. If you desire to work in an Exemplary district with a family atmosphere that embraces creativity and a team approach, this is the job for you. Whether looking for your first job in education or wanting a change, we welcome all candidates to apply. We honor all years of experience at GES. Interested candidates are asked to send a cover letter, resume, and letters of recommendation to Robin Becker at rbecker@ges60.org or 401 Walnut Street, PO Box 400, Germantown, IL, 62245. Interviews will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

It is the mission of Germantown Elementary School District #60 to educate all children to the best of their abilities through the cooperation of school, home, and community. The District, in an active partnership with parents and community, promotes excellence in a caring environment in which all students learn and grow. Through this partnership we hope to empower all students to develop a strong self-esteem and to become responsible learners and decision-makers. Attainment of our mission is determined by student academic achievement, social development and positive attitude toward learning. The Honor Roll program at Germantown Elementary School District #60 recognizes the academic achievement of all fifth through eighth grade students. Students with a grade point average between 3.75-4.0 earn a place on High Honor Roll while students with a GPA between 3.5-3.74 are designated as Honor Roll recipients. It is our pleasure to recognize the 2nd Quarter Honor Roll recipients. This honor is a direct result of hard work and dedication.

Improving cognitive development: Studies have shown that early childhood education leads to improved cognitive development in areas such as language, math, and problem-solving. Enhancing social and emotional development: Early childhood education helps children develop important social and emotional skills, such as the ability to form positive relationships and to regulate their emotions. Long-term benefits: The benefits of early childhood education can be long-lasting, leading to improved academic and life outcomes later in life. Grow, explore, and discover with us.
